We are close to being able to use our new building, with the finishing touches being made to it. This will allow us to move resources from school out of our junior resource area, and Simmons are working over half term to extend our library area and redecorate inside, creating a better learning environment for the children.

SPORTS DAY
We have been planning ahead for our sports day, and this year we are holding it at Fuse Football. The advantage is the 3G surface is flat, as our field has more undulations than ever. We hope this proves successful. The date is confirmed as Thursday 16th June, 1pm. There will be a parents’ race, over a longer distance this year (if you wanted to start your training earlier…).

You can see more about Fuse Football on their website:

OFFICIAL OPENING OF FLEETWOOD TOWN’S TRAINING GROUND
We were delighted to be one of three local schools invited to attend the opening of Poolfoot Farm, attended by Sir Alex Ferguson. The children got the chance to spend some quality time with Steven Pressley, who was very engaging with the children. We have been lucky enough to spend time at the facility over the last 12 months, with lots of sporting competitions and football matches held there.

BIATHLE
On Sunday 8th May, several children are competing in their first Biathle, at Fleetwood YMCA, organised by Pentathlon GB. The children run 400m, swim 50m, then run 400m (it is continuous, so have to take off their trainers and dive into the pool etc!). Good luck to all of the competitors!

OPPORTUNITY TO SEE CHILDREN’S WORK
We are holding the termly session on Wednesday 4th May 3-4pm. If you cannot attend but would like to see your child’s work, please contact the teacher to arrange a suitable time.

BASKETBALL
Congratulations to our Basketball A team (Taylor, Ruby, Aimee, Daniel R, Adam and Luke) for winning the Wyre competition at Cardinal Allen, and winning every game in the process. The standard of basketball was very good, which followed the practice sessions in school, and congratulations to Sapphire House who won our school competition.

FOOTBALL
Congratulations to our school football team for qualifying for the League Finals at Fleetwood Town’s stadium on Thursday 12th May. They have played good football this year, scoring lots of goals. Congratulations to Charlie, Taylor, Daniel O, Daniel C, Daniel R, Tyler, Harry, Ethan, Adam and Loyd.

GYMNASTICS
We are lucky enough to have an excellent Gymnastics coach on our staff. Mrs Boulton has taught Years 1 to 6 this year, and we have seen great progress by our children. We are hoping to demonstrate some of this at our Summer Fair, and we are entering teams for the Gymnastics competition at Preston Gymnastics Centre.

REMINDERS
Articles of jewellery are not allowed in school, they could cause injury to the wearer or another person. Earrings have been a constant source of argument and injury in the past. The Local Authority bans them for P.E. and swimming. The Governors of this school have ruled that no jewellery, other than a wrist watch, can be worn in school. Shoes must be worn as standard uniform. Please ensure all nail varnish is removed before attending school.

LOST PROPERTY
Please can all property and clothing belonging to your children have their names written or sewn in.

HAIR
At Sacred Heart, Mohican hairstyles and shaved patterns into hair are not acceptable.

SCHOOL TRIPS
We have a number of school trips planned, and the following are now booked:
Monday 16th May– Y3/4 to Chester Zoo 8am to 5.30pm
Friday 20th May– Reception trip to Clitheroe Castle 8.30-3.30pm

ADMISSIONS FOR FUTURE YEARS
If you would like to add your child to the admissions list, please see me or Mrs Fairclough. If you have a sibling of a child currently at Sacred Heart, it is still worth registering with us. We also hold registers of interest for 2017 and 2018.

FRIENDS OF SACRED HEART
We have our next meeting of the school year on Tuesday 14th June 2016 at 3.30pm, and all parents and grandparents are welcome to attend, and share new (and old) ideas for our school social and fundraising events, including the summer fair.

MUSIC
If there is any child who would like to learn to play the violin, guitar, keyboard, clarinet, flute or brass, please speak to Mr Eaton or Mrs Fairclough, and we can arrange this for you.

SCHOOL MEALS
We are continuing to retain our school meal price at £1.65 per meal, which we will continue to keep for the foreseeable future, still the lowest of all the local schools.
