Recovery Premium – ‘Covid Catch Up’

Recovery premium is part of the government’s package of funding to support pupils whose education has been impacted by COVID-19.

It is a time-limited grant providing over £300 million of additional funding for state-funded schools in the 2021/22 academic year and £1 billion across the 2022/23 and 2023/24 academic years.

It is focused on pupils who are eligible for pupil premium and pupils who need extra support. This is because of the additional impact of the pandemic on these students.

We have continued to invest the Tutoring money for children in Years 1-3, as these children have missed out on the most education as remote learning is not ideal for this age, and heavily reliant on adults helping them to connect or access the remote learning.

With the extra time created, we feel the children are in a good position to ‘catch up’.  We have also given time for all curriculum areas including art, music and especially PE and sport.

Mrs Bowden is working on a catch up programme with 5 groups of children, to support their learning, including boosting Year 6 maths.
