News - July Newsletter

July Newsletter

On behalf of the staff of Sacred Heart, we would like to thank all parents, Governors and parishioners for their help and support throughout the year.  I would like to thank all the children for all their hard work, and we intend to keep up the achievement next year.  I hope everyone has a wonderful summer holiday, and we finish at 1.30pm on Friday 22nd July!

Mr Eaton

SPORTS DAY
Thank you to all the parents and family members who supported the children for our sports day. The children produced some exciting races, and thank you to our staff for preparing the sports day. Thank you also to all competitors in the parents’ race, and for being good sports!

SPORT PERFORMANCES
Thank you to all of our staff and parents involved in supporting our children in recent events. We are the only school locally to attend all of the events available, but we also invent events with local willing schools and clubs!
Thank you to all of the children involved, and for trying their best and being a credit to the school. The recent events included: girls’ football, girls’ cricket, cricket, tennis, golf and football. Congratulations to Emily Mitchell for competing at the Biathle in Carnforth, where she swam in open water (very brave!).

TENNIS
Congratulations to the children in Years 3 and 4 for finishing 3rd in the Wyre Tennis Tournament, which was our best ever result. Thank you to Mrs Johnson and Miss Bradley for preparing the children.

GIRLS’ FOOTBALL
Congratulations for the girls’ performances in recent matches with the games against Manor Beach, particularly the A team winning 4-2 (the England team could learn something from them!).

SUMMER FAIR
Thank you to everyone who helped with our Summer Fair. The atmosphere at the Fair was very good, and we appreciate the support from families, and the preparation and hard work by volunteers, staff and children for organising stalls.

HSRE POLICY
We have uploaded a draft HSRE policy onto our website, and parents are welcome to send in any comments on this, by Friday 15th July.

SPORTING COMPETITIONS
We are competing in several upcoming tournaments, including several football matches, girls’ football matches, athletics, and several rounders competitions.
Thank you to all the staff for preparing the children for these events, and thank you to the children for trying their best at each tournament. Thank you to all parents who come to support and give lifts to the children.
Our Girls’ Cricket teams also competed extremely well in the girls’ cricket tournament, and we will be having a house tournament this month to build on their enjoyment of the game.

GIRLS’ FOOTBALL
The girls played several games against Rossall, which was a great experience, with all the games being close contests, and ending in draws. Well done to the girls for their hard work in developing their skills over the year.

RIBBY HALL
As a reward for their achievements and huge contributions to our school over the last seven years, we are taking Year 6 to Ribby Hall for a day of sport, to experience the facilities, and hopefully continue with a love of sport and fitness.

BORWICK RESIDENTIAL
Year 6 recently attended Borwick Hall outdoor activity centre. Their behaviour was impeccable, and they had a wonderful time with the activities and being away together. We would like to thank the staff for giving up their time to accompany the children.

MOVING UP AFTERNOONS
Our September intake of new Reception class children will visit school on the afternoons of Wednesday 6th, 13th and 20th July, which gives our other classes an opportunity to spend time with their teacher from September.

SEPTEMBER 2016 CLASSES
In September, our classes will be having the following teachers:
Reception: Mrs Hall and Mrs Bowden
Year 1: Miss Darville, Year 2: Mrs Brodrick
Year 3: Mrs Pagen, Year 4: Miss Holden
Year 5: Mrs Hogarth, Year 6: Miss Green
The children will get the chance to start forging relationships with their teachers during the moving up afternoons.

REMINDERS
Articles of jewellery are not allowed in school, they could cause injury to the wearer or another person. Earrings have been a constant source of argument and injury in the past. The Local Authority bans them for P.E. and swimming. The Governors of this school have ruled that no jewellery, other than a wrist watch, can be worn in school. Shoes must be worn as standard uniform. Please ensure all nail varnish is removed before attending school.

LOST PROPERTY
Please can all property and clothing belonging to your children have their names written or sewn in.

HAIR
At Sacred Heart, Mohican hairstyles and shaved patterns into hair are not acceptable.

SCHOOL CAR PARK:
Parents are not to use the school car park when collecting children from clubs at 4.30pm, or for dropping off children in the morning.

ADMISSIONS FOR FUTURE YEARS
If you would like to add your child to the admissions list, please see me or Mrs Fairclough. If you have a sibling of a child currently at Sacred Heart, it is still worth registering with us. We also hold registers of interest for 2017 and 2018.

MUSIC CONCERT
Our summer music concert is on Tuesday 12th July from 3.30pm, for all of Years 3 and 4, and individual musicians.

GYMNASTICS
Thank you to the children who performed their wonderful routines at the Summer Fair, and thank you to Mrs Boulton and Mrs Hogarth for preparing them.

MUSIC
If there is any child who would like to learn to play the violin, guitar, keyboard, clarinet, flute or brass, please speak to Mr Eaton or Mrs Fairclough, and we can arrange this for you.

SCHOOL MEALS
We are continuing to retain our school meal price at £1.65 per meal, which we will continue to keep for the foreseeable future, still the lowest of all the local schools.
