End of Year Letter (July 2017)

Dear Parents and Guardians

I am writing to you to wish you all an enjoyable and peaceful holiday and I hope all our children, staff, and parents return back to school safe and refreshed!

School finishes on Thursday 20th July (tomorrow) at 1.30pm.

We return on Monday 4th September 2017.

We wish Year 6 all the very best for the future, as they have all worked extremely hard, and are a credit to their families. They have made a huge impact on our school, with the progress they have made, and their achievements in sport, drama and music. We are especially proud of their excellent SATs results, which will give them a significant advantage when starting high school.

Congratulations also to all of the staff who work in the Infants, with excellent progress made by our Reception Class, a record 90% of children achieving the pass mark for Year 1 Phonics, and excellent Year 2 results. Thank you to all of our staff for working hard to achieve excellent progress across school in all areas of the curriculum.

Congratulations again to our school Athletics Team for winning the District Schools Athletics tournament, and to our school Rounders Team for winning the District Schools Rounders Tournament, for the first time ever (in 50 years!); it was an excellent way to finish our sporting year, in which we have won a record number of events for any of the local schools, winning the Rounders, Outdoor Athletics, Indoor Athletics, Cross Country, Tag Rugby and Swimming.

We have seen much progress by our children this year, both in and out of the classroom. We have seen many children participate in so many activities offered by our staff, a hugely successful Mary Poppins production, wonderful performances at the Opera House, excellent music performances and lots of sporting success as individuals and teams.

Congratulations to Pre-school and especially to Aunty Michelle and the children, for winning the Silver Gilt from Wyre in Bloom, for their transformation of the greenhouse and beds in school. They receive their Gilt at the Wyre In Bloom award ceremony in October.

Thank you also to the amazing generosity of our families, raising an incredible £2275 with our Race For Life, for Cancer Research.

And finally, we wish Mrs Porter and Miss Holden all the very best for the future with their career changes, and we thank them for all of their hard work and dedication to our school and children.

Have a wonderful summer!

Yours sincerely
Mr P. Eaton
