Welcome

Welcome to our school website. Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School is a place where children, parents and staff work together to create a positive, vibrant and supportive learning environment.

We are very proud of our school and of the children who form our school community. Our Christian values are at the heart of our school vision and ethos. Children are taught to value themselves and others. They aim to achieve high standards through challenging themselves and identifying their next steps of learning. We have an outstanding and dedicated team, who are committed to identifying and meeting the needs of all children.  This has resulted in outstanding results for 2022, performing way above the national average in all subjects.

Our aim is to encourage children to appreciate that education involves not only trying to achieve their goals, but to also be good citizens. We try to help them achieve this through an innovative, creative, fun curriculum that goes beyond the classroom walls. We take our children on a variety of school trips every year in Lancashire, including residential visits, and also trips to local theatres. We give our children many varied opportunities, including the chance to flourish in drama, music and performances.  We have given children the opportunity to take part in stage shows every year.

We offer many extra-curricular activities throughout the year. They range from sport activities (e.g. netball, tag rugby, football, tennis, and athletics) to music lessons (various instruments), choir, art club and drama.   We take part every year in the Music Festival and Dance Festivals at The Opera House, and visit the Pantomime at The Grand Theatre. We also take part in the Infant Tea Dance at the Marine Hall, and we put on our own stage show in school every year (Shrek “The Musical”) being the latest, involving a large number of KS2 children, supported by a number of staff.

We participate in every sporting event, and we bring in a variety of coaches for every class throughout the year.  This has been further complemented by the first class facilities we have at Sacred Heart- spacious classrooms, and a huge school hall, a modernised kitchen and an outstanding catering service, a purpose-built extra classroom (the Da Vinci Building), extended playgrounds, a nature area (used by Reception for outdoor provision), three outdoor activity areas, outdoor gym equipment, a fenced sports court / MUGA, and our recently redeveloped field.  We have invested in creating an artificial surface to our school field, so it can be used for sport and activities throughout the school year.

We run a Breakfast and After School Club from 7.30am – 8.50am and 3.30pm – 6.00pm, offering a selection of breakfast options and snacks. Pre School also have access to our Breakfast and After School Club therefore providing wraparound care for children from 2 – 11 years old.

We have a Pre School located within school for 2-4 year olds, the Pre School is a committee led preschool, with members elected by the parents of children who attend the setting. Our Pre School believes that care and education are equally important in the experiences we offer the children. The routines and activities that make up the day in the setting are provided in ways that:

  • Help each child to feel that they are a valued member of the setting
  • Ensure the safety of each child
  • Help children to gain from the social experience of being part of a group
  • Provide children with opportunities to learn through play, building their confidence as they learn to explore, relate to others, set their own goals and solve problems.

Our school is a warm and welcoming place. We are committed to ensuring that parents and school work together to provide the best possible future for our children.

We would be delighted to show you our school – please make an appointment through the school office.
