Letter from the Headteacher

Monday, December 20th, 2010

I am writing to wish you all a happy Christmas from myself and everyone at Sacred Heart.

It has been an enjoyable and successful past twelve months. I would like to thank all the children and staff for their hard work and dedication to the school. I would also like to thank all parents and governors for supporting our school and their children, and we look forward to another successful year in 2011. We hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas celebrations in the Church.

I would like to thank all the parents and staff who worked so hard last Monday afternoon to make the Christmas Fair into a great success. Thank you to everyone for their generosity, particularly the businesses which donated free raffle prizes. The children have benefited enormously from the fundraising, especially with last week’s subsidised trip to see Aladdin.

We have several other things to look forward to in 2010, with the extension work to our junior classrooms being completed by the end of February, newly decorated too.

Also, we are delighted to announce that Mrs Bowden and Mrs Hogarth are expecting, both babies due in May. Congratulations to the parents and their families.

We will break up for Christmas at 1.30pm on Tuesday 21st December 2010 and re-open on Thursday 6th January 2011.

Have a wonderful Christmas

GREAT NORTH SWIM

The original Great North Swim event was postponed for the weekend, due to spread of blue-green algae across the course.  Instead, we found another venue to do the mile swim, as Salford Quays are due to host the Great Salford Swim in three weeks time.   The outdoor swimming company, USwim, showed us the Great Swim course and we completed the mile swim in there.  We were informed the water was warmer than Lake Windermere, at a balmy 20 degrees, but it was actually 17 degrees when we got in.

I would like to thank all the people who have sponsored or donated money to Christies, and I will let everyone know of the total in next school newsletter.

 MISS PLANCKE

Unfortunately (for our school!) Miss Plancke is leaving us this week, and has successfully gained a place on the teaching training course in Lancaster.  We wish her all the very best for the future, we thank her for all her hard work and dedication, and we know she will make an excellent teacher.
