TAG RUGBY
Congratulations to our tag rugby teams for producing some scintillating rugby at the Wyre Tag Rugby tournament. Team 2 came third overall, and Team 1 won every game to win the tournament, our third tournament win out of the last four, losing just one match in two years!

CHESS
Congratulations to Harry Clarke, Taylor McCarron and Trayden Jarrett for performing so well at the Northwest Megafinal chess competition, and qualifying for the Northern Gigafinal! A special mention to Trayden Jarrett, who finished second overall in the under 11s!

FOOTBALL
Congratulations to our school Football team, for winning the Semi-final in the Elliot Cup at Bloomfield Road against Larkholme. The team unfortunately lost the final to Shakespeare, but this was the first time our school has reached a cup final! They have also qualified for the League Finals at Highbury stadium, playing Chaucer in the Semi-finals. The team qualified by winning all their games in a tournament at Poolfoot, only conceding one goal, and beating Baines, Flakefleet, Shakespeare, St Wulstans, Charles Saer and Northfold.

FRIENDS OF SACRED HEART
We are preparing for the Summer Fair which is now on Thursday 28th June at 2.30pm. This year’s theme is a Hawaiian Beach Party!!!

MRS BOULTON
Mrs Boulton will sadly be leaving us on Friday 22nd June, as she will becoming a Conductor for Northern Rail! We wish her the very best for the future, and thank her for all of her hard work , as she has made a significant contribution to school life, especially with netball and other sports, over the past thirteen years.

BORWICK RESIDENTIAL
Year 6 are going on the annual residential visit to Borwick Hall, on the 18th to 20th June. We thank the staff who are giving up their time to attend the visit, and we hope everyone has a wonderful experience.

GIRLS’ FOOTBALL
Congratulations for the girls’ performances in recent matches and at the Wyre Football tournament, where our teams finished 3rd overall, winning 5 out six games and only conceding one goal, which was in extra time of the semi-final in a narrow defeat to Stanah. Congratulations for your excellent performances and athleticism, and the girls now get the opportunity to take part in the first ever schools league for girls’ football after half term. Well done to Phoebe, Grace, Bethany, Dakota, Natalia, Isabella, Elliotte, Sophie and Emily.

YEAR 6 SATs
Our children and staff in Year 6 have worked very hard, revised studiously and done their best in the recent tests, and we hope the hard work has paid off for them. The children have learnt how to revise, which is a skill they will need in future education!

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
Congratulations to all of the Holy Communicants for committing their time in preparation for taking the Sacrament. The service was a wonderful occasion, and the children read brilliantly!

BREAKFAST AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
If you need childcare before or after school, please see the school office, or ring Mrs Porter direct on 07538924508. We have extended opening until 6pm. The cost of the morning session is £2.75 and the after school session is £5.50.

The Breakfast Club is open from 7.30am until school time, and children receive food and drinks at both the breakfast and after school clubs.

ABSENCES AND APPOINTMENTS
In addition to no longer being allowed to authorise holiday absences, we are now expected to see evidence of appointments, if your child requires a medical appointment during school time. Please contact school before 9.30 a.m. if your child is absent, otherwise the absence could be deemed unauthorised.

REMINDERS
Articles of jewellery are not allowed in school, as they could cause injury to the wearer or another person. Earrings have been a constant source of argument and injury in the past. The Local Authority bans them for P.E. and swimming. The Governors of this school have ruled that no jewellery, other than a wrist watch, can be worn in school. Shoes must be worn as standard uniform. Nail varnish is also not be worn by children.

LOST PROPERTY
Please can all property and clothing belonging to your children have their names written or sewn in.

HAIR
Please use plain hair bands and clips for children’s hair. Fashion bows or headbands are not part of our school uniform. Please can long hair be tied back.

At Sacred Heart, Mohican hairstyles and shaved patterns into hair are not acceptable.

MEDICINES
Please make sure that the medicines permission form has been completed if your child needs prescribed medicine in school. If you need a form (for prescribed medicines only), please contact the school office or see Mrs. Bowden

ADMISSIONS FOR FUTURE YEARS
If you would like to add your child to the admissions list, please see me or Mrs Bird. If you have a sibling of a child currently at Sacred Heart, it is still worth registering with us. We also hold registers of interest for 2019 and 2020.

Y5/6 NETBALL
Well done to our children competing in the Wyre finals for the school, they competed against the other local winning netball teams at Blackpool Sports Centre.

SCHOOL CAR PARK
Please could all parents refrain from using the school car park at all times. This includes when collecting children from clubs that finish at 4.30pm, as we do not have the space for all cars, and to protect the safety of parents and children.

SCHOOL MEALS
We are continuing to retain our school meal price at £1.65 per meal, which we will continue to keep for the foreseeable future, still the lowest of all the local schools. School requires two weeks notice if you change from school dinner to packed lunch or vice versa.
