September Newsletter

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

Welcome to the first newsletter of the new school year.  I would first like to thank all of our school staff for their hard work in preparation for the new school year.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new parents whose children have joined the school, in our Reception class and other classes in the school.

We intend to again have a happy and successful year, and continue to develop our outstanding school, and enjoy life at Sacred Heart.

Mr Eaton

Following the success of the school in sport over the last twelve months, we intend to continue giving all children opportunities for sport in school.  We will be providing this in PE lessons, lunchtime clubs, after school clubs, bringing coaches in for sessions during and after school, and by having our own in-house competitions. We also intend to continue to enter all the sports events locally, and give the children the best chance of testing their skills against other schools!

We have voted in new house captains for each house, congratulations to the following children:

Ruby:  Abbie Johnston, Katie Gradwell-Bennett

Sapphire: Mari Ellis-Gray, Leon Merella

Emerald: Dominic Corcoran, Aoiffe Gilligan

Gold:  Kathryn Colluney, Adam Warburton

Thank you to all the children who ran for the positions, they produced very intelligent and articulate speeches!

We will be holding our first parent’s evening on Wednesday 8th October, when you can find out about the progress of your child with their academic work, and how to support them at home.

We are holding our annual Open Morning for parents with children of Pre-school age, to show our school in action, and give parents the opportunity to look around school and ask questions to me and other staff.  This takes place on Tuesday 23rd September.

Morrisons have resumed their ‘Let’s Grow’ campaign, to encourage schools to collect vouchers for gardening equipment.  If you shop in Morrisons, please ask for the vouchers, as we are collecting in school.

Please could all parents refrain from using the school car park when collecting children from clubs that finish at 4.30pm, as we do not have the space for all cars, and to protect the safety of parents and children.

We will be continuing delivering road safety for our children, and we are looking for any parents who maybe interested in being trained by Lancashire Road Safety (in school) to help with this programme.  Please let the school office know if you are interested.

New School Year Letter

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

Dear Parents and Guardians

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you, and your child back to Sacred Heart for another school year. For those who are new to our school community I would like to extend a special welcome. I hope you have had an enjoyable and relaxing summer.

We are at a fairly advanced stage with the installation of the sports court, with the tarmac nearly completed, and the fencing should be erected in the next week or so.  The court will make a huge difference to break and lunch times, and allowing our sport to continue when the field is too wet to use.  The court will allow the children to develop their skills in tennis, hockey, cricket, netball, basketball and many other sports.

The bicycle storage will be restored to a different location when the work is complete, but please use the fence by the double gates at the end of the pedestrian path by the car park.

On our return to school, we have received notification that we have become the Wyre Sports School of the Year 2014, winning the award for the second successive year, from a choice of 71 schools.  We are absolutely delighted to have been given this honour, and we now attend the Lancashire sports awards to see if we can get Lancashire sports school of the year (third last year)!

Yours sincerely

Mr P. Eaton
