May Newsletter

Friday, May 16th, 2014

The children are now benefiting from the warmer weather with more activities outdoors, particularly using our extensive grounds for science, PE and art activities.
We are also looking forward this half term to the children taking their first Holy Communion, on Sunday 18th May at 10am.
Mr Eaton

We are sorry to announce that Father Peter will be leaving the Parish and school, from Wednesday 21st May, to become parish priest at St Bernadettes in Bispham. We wish Father all the very best for the future, and thank him for all the time he has given the school and the relationships he has built with children, parents and staff.

Father Peter Clarke is being replaced as our Parish Priest by Father Peter Burns, and we look forward to building a relationship with him, continuing our close links with the parish.

Thank you to all the children and families who participated in the Easter Garden competition. We have received some fabulous entries, and they are on display in our worship area in the hall.
The winners, as chosen by our independent judges, were: Letecia Rogerson, Emily Mitchell, Taylor Linacre and Anirudh Vikram.

Congratulations to Mrs Hall and her husband on the birth of their son, Alexander. We wish them all the very best, and look forward to meeting the new baby!

Thank you to Year 5 for leading our Easter Passion in Church. It was a very reflective and moving service, and we thank Year 5 for the maturity shown in leading such a solemn occasion.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Chocolate Bingo. It was a very successful and enjoyable evening, and well done to all of our chocolate prize winners!

We will be holding our annual sports day on Thursday 12th June 2014.
It will begin at 1pm, and all children will be in all races.
Children can run in trainers for better grip, and hopefully we will have dry weather. Please bring an umbrella.
If the weather is too poor (heavy rain), then another date will be found.
There will be an opportunity for parents to take part in a race, and consent forms will be sent out soon.

We have a lot children competing in many events with other schools over the next few weeks, alongside competitions being run at school.
We are taking part in the Year 3/4 Gymnastics competition, the Girls’ Football competition, the Fleetwood High Netball competition, the Stanah 8 a side football competition and 6 a side competition, and the Wyre cricket competition after half term.
In addition to these competitions, due to the success last term of the football and netball teams, they are playing in the district finals, at Blackpool Sports Centre for the netball finals, and the football team are unbeaten, and in the finals at both Blackpool and Fleetwood Town FC.
