School News: October

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

We are all very pleased with how settled the children are in school after our first month of the new school year. We are especially pleased with their behaviour and hard work in the classes, and look forward to our children making good progress throughout the year.

Mr Eaton

Congratulations to our school football team, who performed so brilliantly against Thornton Primary School, beating them 8-1. The goals were scored by Dylan Pipe, Kieran Pipe (2), Oliver Mellor, Bradley Rimmington-Mills and Connor McNally (3).
This is a remarkable turnaround from one year ago, when they lost 8-7.
Still only one defeat in 2009!

Vincent House

Thank you so much to all our families who donated such an incredible amount of food for our harvest collection. We had so much we could only carry half into Church, but all of it has gone to Vincent House, who were touched by your generosity. I had to find a car with suspension to transport it all there!

School Mass

Thank you to all the parents and family members who have come to support our children at our new school year Mass and our Harvest Service. The staff and children of Sacred Heart appreciate you giving up your time to support our Parish and School.

Congratulations to our Year 3 and 4 skipping teams, who performed fantastically at the recent skipping tournament at Cardinal Allen. Their performance and behaviour was a credit to themselves, their families and their school.

I would like repeat the invitation to all Parishioners to feel free to come to Friday assemblies and special school events, you are always welcome!

Morrisons are resuming the ‘Let’s Grow’ campaign, to encourage schools to collect vouchers for gardening equipment. If you shop in Morrisons, please ask for a voucher every time, as we will be collecting again in school.

Operation Christmas Childl

We will be collecting for the charity Operation Christmas Child until the 16th November. We would appreciate it if you could find the time to fill a shoe box with recommended items. We had a fantastic response in 2007 when we tried this in school, and our Parish are also joining in this year. We appreciate any donations for this worthy project. (We are the drop-off point– please see the letter and leaflets sent out).
