School News: September
Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Welcome to the first newsletter of the school year. I would first like to thank all the staff for their hard work in preparing for the new school year.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to new parents whose children have joined us for the first time, in our new Reception class and in other classes throughout the school. We intend to have a happy and successful year, and continue to develop our outstanding school.
Mr Eaton
Uniform
Please come to collect your uniform orders for the new school year. We have had the orders delivered to the school office. If you would like to order or buy uniform and have not placed an order, please see the school office. Please could all long hair be tied back to help reduce the possibilities of lice spreading. Thank you to everyone for wearing the correct uniform, and please remember the correct PE kits.
Allotment
Thank you so much to everyone, staff, children and volunteers for helping with our allotment.
We even sold some produce at our summer fair, and we will be harvesting the remaining crops in September (plus the apple collection from the nature area). If you have any unused or unwanted seeds or bulbs (even out of date!) we can make good use of them in school!
House Captains
We have new house captains for each house, voted in by the children.
They are: Ruby (Gregory)- Daniel Catlin, Caitlin Johnson
Gold (Augustine)- Kyle Darville, Dylan Pipe
Sapphire (Aidan)- Bradley Rimmington-Mills, Samuel Lloyd
Emerald (Columba)- Melissa Reed, Lloyd Whitham.
Congratulations to all of you!

Sport
We are looking to continue to build our children’s enthusiasm in sport by giving more opportunities this year to try different sports and develop their competitive edge! We have football and netball coaching starting again, with Wake up Shake up on Wednesday mornings. The school swimming begins again on Wednesday 16th September for Year 5, with Year 4 starting in February.
Parish
I would like repeat the invitation to all Parishioners to feel free to come to Friday assemblies and special school events, you are always welcome!
Morrisons
Morrisons are resuming the ‘Let’s Grow’ campaign, to encourage schools to collect vouchers for gardening equipment. If you shop in Morrisons, please ask for a voucher every time, as we will be collecting again in school.
School Council
We are currently deciding on the school councillors for 2009/10, with interested children preparing a short speech to their peers as part of the decision-making process. The school council continues to be successful, and we wish to continue to hear pupils’ opinions and allow them to contribute to changes in school.
