Newsletter – September 2012

Welcome to the first newsletter of the new school year. I would first like to thank all of our school staff for their hard work in preparation for the new school year.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new parents whose children have joined the school, in our Reception class and other classes in the school.

We intend to again have a happy and successful year, and continue to develop our outstanding school, and enjoy life at Sacred Heart.

Mr Eaton

LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS: We are currently sharing our memories of Britain’s greatest summer of sport, in both class and assemblies. If you have memorabilia or pictures of the Olympics, we will continue to share them with the children.

The children, and staff, have been inspired by the achievements of our sports stars, in both the Olympics and Paralympics, and we will continue to enter all the sports events available, and encourage sport in our own school.

My personal highlights included Jessica Ennis, David Weir, Johnny Peacock, Usain Bolt, Mo Farah, Bradley Wiggins, Mr Bean, Chris Hoy, Laura Trott, Kohei Uchimuru, Victoria Pendleton, Andy Murray, and many, many others!

HOUSE CAPTAINS: We have voted in new house captains for each house, congratulations to the following children:

Ruby: Joshua Dunkerley, Erin Brodrick

Sapphire: George Smith, Bethany Fleming

Emerald: Kacey Moorhouse, Maja Kazmierczak

Gold: Harry Sutherland, Joseph Flemington

Thank you to all the children who ran for the positions, they produced very intelligent and articulate speeches!

OPEN EVENING FOR PARENTS: We will be holding our first parent’s evening on Wednesday 10th October, when you can find out about the progress of your child with their academic work, and how to support them at home.

OPEN MORNING FOR POTENTIAL NEW PARENTS: We are holding our annual Open Morning for parents with children or Pre-school age, to show our school in action, and give parents the opportunity to look around school and ask questions to me and other staff. This takes place on Tuesday 25th September.

MORRISONS: Morrisons have resumed their ‘Let’s Grow’ campaign, to encourage schools to collect vouchers for gardening equipment. If you shop in Morrisons, please ask for the vouchers, as are collecting in school.

SCHOOL CAR PARK: Please could all parents refrain from using the school car park when collecting children from clubs that finish at 4.30pm, as we do not have the space for all cars, and to protect the safety of the majority of parents and children.
