News - December Newsletter

December Newsletter

We are looking forward to all of the Christmas events in school and Church. We have the music concert, infant nativities, the junior concert, the panto visit and the Christmas Fayre in the next three weeks!

We hope you enjoy all the Christmas activities. Our children, parents and staff have worked hard to prepare for the Christmas celebrations, and we hope that you enjoy attending our performances!

NON-UNIFORM DAY
We are holding a non-uniform day on Friday 16th December, in return for donating chocolate (infants) or a bottle (juniors) for the privilege of wearing their own clothes, to stock our bottle and chocolate tombolas at the Christmas Fair. Thank you in advance for the donations.

LADIES’ EVENING
We are hosting a Ladies’ Evening on Thursday 1st December, at which there will be a Noosa fashion show, stalls for jewellery including candles, cakes and handbags and many other gift ideas. Clarins and Tropics will also be in attendance, and the jazz singer Simply Jack will also be entertaining.
Tickets are available from school, and this also includes a choice of fresh poached salmon or quiche with salad, and a glass of bubbly! And a free gift bag!

INFANT NATIVITY
All of our infants are performing in the Nativity in Church, starting at 6pm on Wednesday 14th December, with a matinee on Thursday 15th December at 2pm, and all family members are welcome to attend (no tickets needed). There will be a raffle for a hamper at each performance.

BLACKPOOL DANCE FESTIVAL
Thank you to Mrs Rae for all her hard work, with support from several staff, and congratulations to our dancers for their excellent performance at the Opera House. We were very proud of your achievements at the Dance Festival, and it had a wonderful reaction from the 2000 strong audience.

BRITISH BIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to Rafael Eaton for representing school at the British Championships in Solihull, after being one of 50 children to qualify (out of 400). Rafael managed to take 1.5 seconds off his 50m time in winning his heat, then coming third in an incredible 800m heat with the fastest 800m runners in the UK. Overall, Rafael finished in second place at the British Biathlon Championships, which is an incredible achievement.

INDOOR ATHLETICS
Congratulations to our team for winning the Indoor Athletics competition for the fourth consecutive year! The children now qualify for the regional finals, held in January. We had lots of winners of races in the competition (winning 14 out of 24 events), and overall, it was a landslide victory!

JUNIOR CHRISTMAS CONCERT
All of our juniors are performing in the Junior Christmas Concert, in Church, starting at 6pm on Thursday 8th December, and all family members are welcome to attend (no tickets needed). There will be a raffle for a hamper too!

CHRISTMAS MUSIC CONCERT
The children have been working hard to prepare for the concert, with Year 3 performing Samba and singing, and Year 5 will be performing the ukuleles with Mr Smith.

Every child who has tuition from school will also be taking part in the performance, for their parents. The event is not ticketed, and will take place for parents at 3.30pm on Tuesday 13th December 2016 in the school hall.

BREAKFAST AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
If you need childcare before or after school, please see the school office, or ring Mrs Porter direct on 07538924508. We have extended opening until 6pm.

The Breakfast Club is open from 7.30am until school time, and children receive food and drinks at both the breakfast and after school clubs.

SCHOOL CAR PARK
Please could all parents not use the school car park when collecting children from clubs that finish at 4.30pm, and before school for Wake Up Shake Up, to protect the safety of everyone.

ABSENCES AND APPOINTMENTS
In addition to no longer being allowed to authorise holiday absences, we are now expected to see evidence of appointments, if your child requires a medical appointment during school time. Please can all parents contact school before 9.30am if your child is absent, otherwise the absence could be deemed unauthorised.

REMINDERS
Articles of jewellery are not allowed in school, they could cause injury to the wearer or another person. Earrings have been a constant source of argument and injury in the past. The Local Authority bans them for P.E. and swimming. The Governors of this school have ruled that no jewellery, other than a wrist watch, can be worn in school. Shoes must be worn as standard uniform.

LOST PROPERTY
Please can all property and clothing belonging to your children have their names written or sewn in.

HAIR
At Sacred Heart, Mohican hairstyles and shaved patterns into hair are not acceptable.

MEDICINES
Please make sure that the medicines permission form has been completed if your child needs prescribed medicines in school. If you need a form (for prescribed medicines only), please contact the school office or see Mrs Bowden.

ADMISSIONS FOR FUTURE YEARS
If you would like to add your child to the admissions list, please see me or Mrs Fairclough. If you have a sibling of a child currently at Sacred Heart, it is still worth registering with us. We also hold registers of interest for 2017 and 2018.

FRIENDS OF SACRED HEART
We have our next meeting of the school year on Tuesday 6th December 2016 at 3.30pm, and all parents and grandparents are welcome to attend, and share new (and old) ideas for our school social and fundraising events. We will also be voting in the new Chair and Vice Chair of the committee.

MUSIC
If there is any child who would like to learn to play the violin, guitar, keyboard, clarinet, flute or brass, please speak to Mr Eaton or Mrs Fairclough, and we can arrange this for you.

SCHOOL MEALS
We are continuing to retain our school meal price at £1.65 per meal, which we will continue to keep for the foreseeable future, still the lowest of all the local schools. School requires two week notice if you change from school dinner to packed lunch or vice versa.

Thank you to all the staff who have given up their time to start clubs for the children already this term.
