At Sacred Heart Primary School we encourage children to be curious about things they observe, and to experience and explore the world about them with all their senses. Through their experiences children develop an understanding of key scientific ideas and make links between different phenomena, experiences and think critically about claims and ideas.

The school teachers plan various activities to support the science curriculum and regularly use the nature reserve and the surrounding areas of the school to develop a respect for the environment and living things and for their own health and safety. Science lessons cover for example the human body, materials and their properties, life and physical processes as well as habitats and the solar system.
