April Newsletter

The children are starting to benefit from the warmer weather with more activities outdoors, particularly using our extensive grounds for science, PE and art activities. We have lots of sporting activities next term, and several competitions to participate in.

We are also holding our annual Chocolate Bingo on Thursday 30th March at 6pm in the hall.

Mr Eaton

MOTHER’S DAY EVENT
Thank you to everyone for supporting the Mother’s Day event and sending in presents and money, and to the Catholic Women’s League for wrapping the gifts.

SWIMMING / BIATHLON / BIATHLE
Congratulations to Rafael Eaton for competing at the British Schools’ Biathlon Championships, representing Sacred Heart at the event at the National Sports Centre in Crystal Palace.
Rafael achieved his personal best in both the run and swim. Congratulations for a wonderful personal achievement, finishing 6th out of 120 competitors. Rafael also represented Lancashire for the first time, at the Regional Sports hall championships at Sports City in Manchester.

Congratulations also to Jonathan Fielding and Kristen Beswick, who competed in the Regional Swimming Champsionships, who like Rafael, swam in the Olympic-size 50m swimming pool, at Sheffield. The children also scored personal bests in their races, and I hope they take great confidence in their success.

Congratulations to Scarlett Tushingham for winning the regional event in Burnley, well done for committing so much time to practice and training!

REMINDERS
Articles of jewellery (including earrings) are not allowed in school, they could cause injury to the wearer or another person. Earrings have been a constant source of argument and injury in the past. The Local Authority bans them for P.E. and swimming. The Governors of this school have ruled that no jewellery, other than a wrist watch, can be worn in school. Shoes must be worn as standard uniform. Please ensure all nail varnish is removed before attending school.

LOST PROPERTY
Please can all property and clothing belonging to your children have their names written or sewn in.

SCHOOL CAR PARK
Please could all parents refrain from using the school car park when collecting children from clubs that finish at 4.30pm, and especially dropping off at school time in the morning.

BLACKPOOL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Thank you to Mrs Rae for all her hard work, with support from Mrs Boulton and several parents, for the extremely successful performance at the Opera House. We have lots of wonderful feedback regarding how well the children performed, and the audience clearly loved their performance. Congratulations!
